Health guarantee

Animali in Vendita provides a comprehensive health guarantee for every animal sold through our platform. This guarantee is backed by our team of veterinarians and is designed to give you peace of mind that your new companion is healthy, free from congenital defects, and has received all necessary preventive care before delivery.

1. Duration and basic coverage

The health guarantee is valid for 12 months from the date of delivery. It covers:

• Genetic and hereditary diseases – conditions that are proven to be inherited (e.g., hip/elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in cats, PBFD in parrots).
• Congenital defects – malformations present at birth that affect the animal’s quality of life.
• Infectious diseases contracted before arrival – if diagnosed by a veterinarian within 48 hours of delivery (e.g., parvovirus, coccidia, psittacosis).

If a covered condition is diagnosed, you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price, a replacement animal of equal value (when available), or reimbursement of veterinary expenses up to €500 after pre‑authorization.

2. Veterinary checks and documentation

Before any animal is shipped, we ensure:

• A complete clinical examination by a licensed veterinarian (within 7 days of shipment).
• All mandatory vaccinations (core vaccines for dogs/cats, basic health screening for parrots and exotics).
• Deworming and external parasite treatment.
• Microchip implantation and EU passport (where applicable).
• For CITES species, all necessary export permits and health certificates.

You will receive a copy of these documents together with the sales contract.

3. Specific coverage by species

🐶 Puppies

Guarantee includes: hip and elbow dysplasia (radiological diagnosis after 12 months), hereditary eye diseases (PRA, cataracts), heart defects (subaortic stenosis, pulmonic stenosis), epilepsy (if diagnosed before 12 months), and cryptorchidism. The breeder must have provided hip scores of parents for at‑risk breeds.

🐱 Kittens

Coverage for: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), polycystic kidney disease (PKD), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), patellar luxation, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Genetic test results of parents are available upon request.

🦜 Parrots

Covered conditions: PBFD (psittacine beak and feather disease), psittacosis (chlamydiosis), polyomavirus, and aspergillosis (pre‑existing). All birds are tested for PBFD before sale.

🦎 Reptiles & 🐾 Exotics

Guarantee covers metabolic bone disease (MBD) diagnosed within 3 months, internal parasites (if found within 14 days), and congenital deformities. A veterinarian reptile specialist checks all reptiles before shipment.

🐒 Primates

Covers congenital conditions, infectious diseases (tB, herpes B risk screening), and metabolic disorders. Full CITES documentation and health certificate included.

4. 48‑hour acute illness observation

Because some infectious diseases may appear after transport, we strongly recommend that you take your new pet to a local veterinarian within 48 hours of arrival. If an acute illness (e.g., parvovirus, coccidia, respiratory infection) is confirmed by a vet report at that time, we will cover 100% of the treatment costs up to €500 or offer a replacement/refund – no questions asked. This is in addition to the 12‑month genetic guarantee.

5. How to claim the health guarantee

To activate the guarantee, you must:

• Notify us within 7 days of the veterinary diagnosis via email: health.warranty@animalinvendita.com.
• Provide the original veterinary report (including diagnostic tests, X‑rays, lab results) and itemised invoices.
• Do not authorise any costly procedures (over €200) without our prior written consent (except life‑saving emergencies).

Our veterinary panel will evaluate the case within 14 days. If approved, we will issue a refund, arrange a replacement, or reimburse veterinary fees directly.

6. Exclusions

The health guarantee does not cover:

• Injuries or illnesses caused by the buyer after delivery (e.g., accidents, poisoning, fights with other animals, improper diet).
• Pre‑existing conditions that were disclosed before purchase and accepted by the buyer.
• Behavioural problems (aggression, anxiety, phobias) without a proven genetic cause.
• Cosmetic imperfections (e.g., slight colour variation, tail shape, ear set).
• Accidents during transport (covered by shipping insurance).
• Routine veterinary care (vaccinations, deworming, nail trimming).

7. Breeder responsibility and transparency

All our breeders sign a code of conduct that requires them to:

• Provide complete health records and genetic test results of the parents.
• Allow unannounced veterinary inspections of their facilities.
• Immediately report any outbreak of infectious disease in their kennel/cattery/aviary.

If a breeder is found to have knowingly sold a sick animal, they will be permanently removed from our platform and legal action may be taken.
